This work was included in the "Through the Looking-Glass" group exhibition at Voss Gallery (August 5 - September 5, 2020).
"This piece is a story about Niharika, and I work together but have never met in person. I wanted to recreate our virtual relationship through a computer screen. What would that process be from doing a virtual photoshoot, selecting the communication platform, to the time difference between California and India? The augmented reality is an expression of contexts that are experienced beyond the screen." —Kristian Kabuay
Kristian Kabuay is a self-taught artist based in the San Francisco Bay Area. He spent his college years in the Philippines where he honed his knowledge about the native ancient writing system, Baybayin. His work is influenced by calligraphy, graffiti, abstract art, indigenous culture, technology and Asian writing systems.
Artwork is varnished and ready to hang on the wall (small nail needed). Dust with a microfiber cloth to clean.
