Voss Gallery presents “Entangled Stories,” a solo exhibition of risqué work by Justyna Kisielewicz that combines traditional painting and textile techniques to explore our common humanity.
The exhibition is on view September 9 - October 22, 2022. Join us for an opening reception with the artist on Friday, Sept. 9th, 6-9PM. Gallery hours are Wednesday-Saturday, 12-6PM or by appointment.
“We are all entangled in something. We can be entangled mentally, spiritually, physically and bodily among other things. These entanglements are interwoven into our being just like a story that is woven within time. This exhibition incorporates textile art such as embroidery, crochet, and needle felting to serve as a reminder that regardless of our differences and gender, we have more in common than we think.
I depict the male nude to subvert the traditional tendency of the female form being used exclusively to express admiration, feminine power, beauty and success. My work also incorporates embroidered dollar bills, felt sculpture and paintings to symbolize our shared stories, emotions, and desires.
My hope is to remind viewers that the world moves on, that change is good, and that it’s the artist’s role to push the boundaries of what is acceptable.” –Justyna Kisielewicz
