Voss Gallery presents “Mirage,” a duo exhibition of abstract maximalist paintings by Jennifer Banzaca and Joshua Nissen King that depict exuberant and over-the-top environments as an alternative escape from reality.
The exhibition is on view October 20 - November 13, 2021. An opening reception with the artists will be held on Friday, Oct. 22nd, 6-9PM. Gallery hours are Wednesday-Saturday, 12-6PM or by appointment. We are closely following the situation with COVID-19 via the CDC and SF Department of Public Health and will share any updates on our website, newsletter, and social media channels.
JENNIFER BANZACA (b. New Jersey, 1969) is a painter and designer living in San Francisco. After graduating from the Art Institute of Chicago (BFA), she went on to live in New York and San Francisco working as a digital designer for print and animation. In 2004 she resumed her painting practice and continued studies at the Art Students League and the New York Academy of Art. Jennifer has exhibited throughout the Bay Area and has been an artist in residence at the Skopelos Foundation for the Arts.
JOSHUA NISSEN KING (b. 1987) is a contemporary painter based in the San Francisco Bay Area. He employs oil paint, aerosol, and masking techniques to depict the detritus of the artificial world in relation to nature. Nissen King holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with an emphasis in education from California State University, San Francisco. He participates in exhibitions across the West Coast and has received an arts grant from the Mondavi Foundation, CA and a painting scholarship from the Martin Wong Foundation, CA.
