ABOUT THE WORK
"San Francisco is a town where the historic scenery remains and fantasy reigns. As a production designer, I wanted to combine these themes in a cinematic way and create a scene from a monster movie. Here Francis Ford Coppola’s building is transported to Ocean Beach where it is attacked by a giant squid while an enormous whale approaches in the distance. Two surfers stand quietly, perhaps realizing that this is not the best time to go in the water. They are likely the next victims in our feature presentation of "Squid Games.""—Lauren Crasco
This work is included in the "Urban Tides: A San Francisco Story" group exhibition at Voss Gallery (July 13 - August 17, 2024).
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Lauren Crasco is a designer and artist based in San Francisco who works throughout the United States and internationally as a Production Designer for film and television.
