"I have lived here since 2006. This work explores the emotions of the “last black men in San Francisco.” It’s a snapshot but not the whole story."TC Moore

This work is included in the "Urban Tides: A San Francisco Story" group exhibition at Voss Gallery (July 13 - August 17, 2024).

TC Moore is a self-taught artist and musician based in Oakland, CA. Raised in the Midwest after being born in Alabama, he has been a resident of the Oakland/SF area since 2007. His work is a reflection of his fascination with people and the themes of identity and existentialism that shape our existence. Through a unique blend of abstract and figurative elements, he aims to create pieces that resonate on a subconscious level.

Each piece he creates invites viewers to explore their own interpretations, fostering a personal connection through color and texture. His artistic process is deeply rooted in community involvement, emotional exploration, and the collection of images from life and memories. Research also plays a crucial role in shaping his work.

He is passionate about experimenting with various mediums, including acrylics, pastels, spray paint, oils, watercolors, and Akua Ink. Whether working on canvas, paper, or found objects, he strives to weave these elements together, creating art that is rich in texture and meaning. This approach allows his work to communicate complex ideas and emotions, engaging viewers in a profound dialogue.

Artwork is ready to hang on the wall; hanging wire is secured on the back (nail and hook needed). Dust raw canvas with a clean, soft brush and HEPA-filtered vacuum to clean. Using a new, clean brush prevents transfer of grime from previous dustings.
