ABOUT THE WORK
"I am a Bay Area-based multidisciplinary artist who is deeply influenced by the transformative power of color. I explore how individual perceptions of color profoundly impact our psychological and emotional states. Each person's experience with color is unique, shaping our moods and experiences often in subtle unconscious ways. I use color as a language to convey emotions, evoke memories, and encapsulate the essence of a place.
My piece titled “Golden Glow“ pays homage to the Golden Gate Bridge, San Francisco's most iconic landmark This distinctive hue is synonymous with San Francisco, evoking a sense of place and identity that resonates with both residents and visitors. The color, International Orange, is integral to the bridge's fame and allure, transforming it from a mere structure into a glowing beacon of the city's spirit and shining through the fog throughout the decades. In this way, it has taken on a mythical quality and lives more vibrantly in my mind’s eye than it likely does in reality. Through this piece, I aim to celebrate the unique color that encapsulates the essence of San Francisco, highlighting how color can define and elevate the character of a place."—Erin Fong
This work is included in the "Urban Tides: A San Francisco Story" group exhibition at Voss Gallery (July 13 - August 17, 2024).
