2020 Year in Review

Since opening in San Francisco’s Mission District in September 2019, Voss Gallery has sought to inspire, connect and enrich lives by making the art buying process easy, accessible and fun! We work closely with our family of artists to produce dynamic solo and thematically organized group shows and socially-conscious projects to benefit the greater community.

This year amidst the uncertainties of COVID-19, we presented The Tracy Piper’s “All I Need” solo exhibition of figurative paintings that reaffirm society’s right to reflection and self-care; Ingrid V. Wells’s “Sweet Fascination” solo exhibition that exuberantly explores the complex nature of girlhood in American pop culture; John Osgood’s “In Plain Sight” solo exhibition that examines our perception of identity and the collective human experience; Jeremy Novy’s “The First Pride Was A Riot” pop-up exhibition of queer street art honoring Pride’s unruly history; Tati Holt’s “Fabuloso” spotlight exhibition of hyperrealist oil paintings inspired by the unique cultural heritage of San Francisco’s Mission District; Joshua Nissen King’s “Fruit of Another” solo exhibition that depicts nature as a kaleidoscopic dreamscape; and Serge Gay Jr.’s “Prince 2 Queens” solo exhibition of autobiographically inspired paintings that depict the immigrant story as an American story of resilience and perseverance.

In conjunction, our lower-level space [The Down Low] showcased Natalia Lvova’s “Confections” solo exhibition of provocative oil paintings that boldly celebrate female erotic fantasy and psychology; Jennifer Banzaca’s “Utopia” solo exhibition that whimsically depicts the exploration of an idealized world; and The Tracy Piper’s “Down the Rabbit Hole” Artist-in-Residence exhibition that coincided with an ongoing #artforchange initiative in support of three organizations advocating for social justice and public health. So far we have donated over $16,000 to the Black Lives Matter Global Network, $1,500 to the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, and $250 to the American Nurses Foundation's Coronavirus Response Fund for Nurses.

In addition, the gallery hosted socially-distanced outdoor stencil workshops with Jeremy Novy, an inaugural VIP Collectors Club event, and three group exhibitions to include “BASL: Bay Art Seekers Lounge,” a juried group exhibition of New Contemporary work by 54 regional artists which remains on view through January 30, 2021.

THANK YOU for your continued support—we look forward to growing with you all in the years to come.

With gratitude and warm wishes in this new year,
