Soad (YES), 2020
Silk & Cotton Quilt
10 x 10 x 1 in
Signed on Back
"I am a conceptual textile artist. These are the first quilts in my new series of crowdsourced portraits of women. In this series, people who identify as women are asked to submit images of themselves with a sentence that states what they are saying yes or no to. For example, I (Amy) say NO to always saying yes, while Soad says YES to feeling worthy. The quilts will be shown with the statements. The goal is to create an inclusive series of portraits that expand the idea of what a portrait can be." —Amy Ahlstrom
