ABOUT THE ARTIST

"From the lush Pacific Northwest, I create mixed media abstract paintings with a sense of spaciousness and light.

My creative journey, like my life, has been varied and meandering. My earliest memories are of drawing and I always knew I wanted to be an artist. Yet somehow I got distracted from the creative life, pursuing a marketing career and other adventures that took me from my hometown of Houston to Austin to NYC to Asheville, and finally Seattle.

While living in the foothills of the Smoky Mountains in North Carolina, I reconnected with my creative self by getting a degree in fiber arts, weaving, and making art quilts.

After moving to Seattle, I turned to surface pattern design, then illustration, and eventually, painting. I also met my husband and finally put down roots in a lovingly renovated craftsman bungalow, where I have my home studio."—Laurie Baars

HANGING & CARE

Artwork is ready to hang on the wall; hanging wire is secured on the back (nail and hook needed). Dust raw canvas with a clean, soft brush and HEPA-filtered vacuum to clean. Using a new, clean brush prevents transfer of grime from previous dustings.
