ABOUT THE ARTIST
Taylor Rose Stoneman is a contemporary painter, poet, and outdoorswoman living in Berkeley. She grew up in the Sonoran Desert: spending her childhood in Phoenix, Arizona before later moving to Tucson for college. After graduating from the University of Arizona in 2013, she eschewed the desert for its opposite, moving to Ithaca, New York to attend law school at Cornell University. She later spent time in both DC and LA before landing for good among the redwoods and roiling coast of the Bay Area.
“Still a nonprofit attorney by day, my art practice is self-taught. In many ways, I feel that painting returns me to my body and self, shifting how I see the world and its textures.
My practice has shifted from watercolors to acrylics to oils and is ever expanding as like a flower to the sun, I turn toward what brings me warmth. I am often drawn to paint the desert, the mountains, the flora of both myself, and the people which surround my life and make it better. My poetry similarly draws inspiration from my experiences as a woman and from the natural world around me. I find the whole spectrum of emotions in my work—from love, glee, and lightness to anger, frustration, and grief. I paint as I am human: feeling it all.”—Taylor Stoneman
HANGING & CARE
Artwork is ready to hang on the wall; hanging wire is secured on the back (nail and hook needed). Dust raw canvas with a clean, soft brush and HEPA-filtered vacuum to clean. Using a new, clean brush prevents transfer of grime from previous dustings.
